Which Type Do You Need?
Three validation levels. Here's when each applies.
DV — Domain Validation
Standard HTTPS for most sites
Confirms you own the domain. Encrypts traffic and shows the padlock. This is the right choice for most small business sites, blogs, and landing pages. The free SSL included with hosting is DV. Paid DV certs add warranty coverage and stronger trust indicators.
EV — Extended Validation
Business identity verification
Requires verification of your business identity by the certificate authority. Higher warranty, stronger trust signals, and appropriate for financial services, ecommerce, or any business handling sensitive customer data.
Managed SSL
Auto-renews, auto-installs
A managed SSL certificate handles its own renewal and installation — you never have to worry about an expiration causing a security warning. Worth the premium for business sites that can't afford lapses.
